We are working to make philadelphia a place where every healthy and treatable pet is guaranteed a home. Need help feeding your pets? · explore the future of no - kill shelters in the u. s. —the progress, challenges, and hope behind saving more pets’ lives every year. · twelve organizations in the philadelphia region have pledged to join together to both increase the citys survival rate and reduce the number of pets that end up in shelters. Not sure if you can keep your pet?submit a request for assistance before surrendering to the shelter. We then invited our fellow rescues, shelters and animal service providers to join us. Instead of surrendering to the shelter , lets connect with local animal rescues instead! The coalition aims to end the killing of savable pets in shelters by helping struggling owners keep their pets as cherished family members and increasing rescue, adoption, and foster opportunities for animals who have nowhere else to go. We will provide regular updates to the community on our progress, needs, and ways to help. In late-2017, the citys three leading animal welfare agencies – acct philly, the pennsylvania spca, and paws – formed the philadelphia no - kill coalition. We do so through rescue, foster care, adoption, and preventing pet homelessness in the first place by offering low-cost spay/neuter and basic vet care. Together, we will make philadelphia a no - kill city where no savable pets die in shelters. Visit one of our free pet food pantries!
